Why PVC Floor Tiles Are a Smart Choice

PVC floor tiles are a versatile flooring solution suited to homes, garages, gyms, workshops, and commercial spaces. They are manufactured to be:

  • Durable and resilient under heavy foot traffic and machinery
  • Resistant to chemicals, stains, and water
  • Fire retardant and slip resistant for added safety
  • Cost-effective compared to traditional flooring systems
  • Easy to clean and maintain, even in busy environments

Because of their design, PVC floor tiles are also highly adaptable, making them ideal for both DIY projects and large-scale installations.

Tools Needed for Installation

Before starting your project, gather the following tools:

  • Steel ruler for precise measurements
  • Hammer for locking tiles securely into place
  • Stanley or razor knife for cutting tiles
  • Small container if adhesive is required
  • Square set to ensure perfect right angles
  • Steel scraper for spreading glue evenly

Having the correct tools ready ensures a smooth and efficient installation.

Step-by-Step Installation Process

  • Prepare the Floor
Clean and level the surface. Remove all dust, grease, or old adhesive to ensure strong bonding.
  • Mark the Center Point
Find the middle of the installation area. For example, in a 10-metre space, start at the 5-metre mark. Place your first tile here for even distribution.
  • Align the First Tiles
Place one tile in the center, then add two more tiles — one sideways and one forward — to create a 90-degree angle. Use a square to check alignment.
  • Leave Expansion Gaps
Keep a 3mm gap from walls to allow for thermal expansion. This prevents tiles from lifting or warping in warmer temperatures.
  • Dry Layout First
Position all tiles and make cuts before applying adhesive. This ensures a neat fit and reduces mistakes.
  • Cutting Tiles
Use a razor or Stanley knife to trim tiles for edges, corners, or curves. PVC’s flexibility makes shaping easier than with rigid flooring.
  • Apply Adhesive (if needed)
Once the layout is complete, spread glue evenly using a steel scraper. Press tiles firmly into place and lock them tightly with a hammer.                   NB For most rooms, always order 5–7% extra tiles to cover cutting waste. For irregular spaces with many corners, increase the extra percentage.

Cleaning & Maintenance of Rubber Tiles

Many of our customers combine PVC interlocking tiles with Gym and Garage Floor rubber tiles in gyms, workshops, or factories.

  • Rubber tiles only require sweeping or damp mopping.
  • For gyms, cylindrical brush cleaning machines are best.
  • Use a neutral pH cleaner to protect the material.
  • Rubber sealers can restore shine and extend lifespan.

How to Clean and Maintain PVC Floor Tiles

Regular Cleaning

  • Sweep or vacuum to remove dust and grit.
  • Mop with warm water and mild detergent.
